Experience Hands- free Driving with Super Cruise

Enjoy Super Cruise Hands Free Driving with Your New Chevy in New Jersey

If you don't have a new Chevy, you're missing out on a truly innovative driving experience. GM's new semi-autonomous driving system was named Motor Trend's 2025 Technology of the Year. Through its user-friendly system, patented technology, and direct satellite communication, your new Chevy is equipped to make your commute in Northern New Jersey easier by the mile. Here's what you can find in your new Chevy from SchuCar.

What is Super Cruise?

Super Cruise is a new technology installed inside select Chevy models. It blends infrared technology, precision cameras, and satellites to direct your new Chevy across compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. Up to 750,000 miles are compatible with GM's exclusive Super Cruise technology-with more roads becoming compatible by the year. Here are the features included with GM's Super Cruise.

Lane Changing Capability

Do you get apprehensive when you have to change lanes on the highway in Northern New Jersey? This feature is designed to make your lane changes smoother and less stressful. When engaged, this feature will automatically change lanes when traffic ahead of you moves too slowly for your speed. The system will switch on your turn signal and wait for an opening to change lanes and pass. If no opening is identified, the system will slow your Chevy and wait for an opening to switch lanes.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control will automatically adjust your Chevy in concordance with the speed of traffic. Dynamic technology and intuitive cameras along your Chevy will ensure that you maintain a safe distance from the vehicles around you.

Enhanced Navigation

Your new Chevy will also employ an enhanced navigation system. With pinpoint satellite communication and next-generation cameras, you will always know where the compatible roads are in Northern New Jersey. When you select "Alternate Routes Overview" on your touchscreen, it will immediately highlight all compatible roads with a white line. You can plan your route accordingly with Super Cruise's enhanced navigation.

Super Cruise Trailering

Super Cruise will recognize when you're pulling a trailer and automatically lengthen the space between you and the next vehicle in traffic. This will give your stopping distance an extra cushion in traffic.

Unconscious Driver Protection with OnStar

If you become immobilized or unresponsive during your commute while using Super Cruise, your Chevy will safely roll to a complete stop. Next, the system will initiate contact with OnStar and send help if needed. More information about this feature is available in the "prompts" below.

How to Initiate Super Cruise

Your Super Cruise technology is available as soon as you enter compatible roads in Bloomfield, NJ, or anywhere on your route. To initiate a session, depress the Illuminated Super Cruise button on the steering wheel. Once the Super Cruise symbol and light bar turn green on the steering wheel, your system is engaged and you're ready to travel hands-free.

Prompts that Trigger Your Attention Behind the Wheel

Super Cruise is not intended for you to take a nap behind the wheel. It's designed to make your driving experience smoother and more convenient. Here are the four prompts your Driver Attention System will initiate if your attention isn't on the road.

  • Prompt 1: The light Bar on the steering wheel will flash green
  • Prompt 2: The light bar will flash red until you take hold of the steering wheel (chimes may sound, and Safety Alert Seat will vibrate.
  • Prompt 3: Vehicle's acceleration will disengage, but Adaptive Cruise Control will remain functional
  • Prompt 4: A voice will inform you to take control of the steering wheel. If you don't take immediate control, the system will slow the vehicle and bring it to a complete stop in the lane of travel. In addition, an emergency-Certified OnStar Advisor will call the vehicle to check on you.
